We promised to get in touch to talk about Can Escandell and how disappointed we were with the hotel.
It started with our arrival. There was no one in "reception" which was just a locked up a room. Only a cleaner, I think, was able to show us our rooms, and then there was no evidence of staff around for the rest of the day. No where we could order tea etc. The breakfasts were served in a separate building and they were very good, I have to say. However the grounds of the hotel were unkempt and overrun with weeds. The buildings looked "tired" - in fact the whole place could do with a massive "overhaul" and some TLC. It looks like it has been run down for a while. Our rooms were large enough but with no "creature comforts" at all, everything was very very basic. Our room gave onto a little garden which was full of weeds and rather unpleasant.
All in all, for the cost - 260 Euros per night per room, we were not impressed and would not recommend anyone to return there.
