Finca Es Castell is a paragon of rustic chic, a riotous tumble of stone buildings making up a little 12 room hotel that burrows itself into the hillside. Located at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains, Es Castell is surrounded by by acres of olive, orange, lemon, fig and almond trees. This is an area where agriculture and tourism live in harmony, exemplified by Es Castell itself which is part of an estate extending to 750 acres.

Everything about this hotel evokes the tradition of life in this part of Mallorca, the cobbled patio, the mediaeval well, the old olive press. On a balmy evening subtly lit by lamps and candles, all this becomes a rural idyll. More modern features come in the form of the swimming pool, but here too it is surrounded by nature and immersed in the sound of birdsong and cicadas. Just serve yourself a drink from the honesty bar and settle back to enjoy the view. Indoors too, there is lots of space to relax, with the quiet lounge for reading or contemplation set behind the dining room.

The eleven double rooms and one junior suite are all individual, and decorated in a tradition Mallorcan style. Every room has heating, air-conditioning and a fan to be comfortable whatever the time of year and there is a magnificent view of some of the countryside around. As a rule, there is no TV or telephone (relaaaaax......) but the hotel can provide a television set and a choice of 300 DVD films if requested.

The peaceful heartland of northern Mallorca is the perfect location for a holiday to relax. Leave the hustle and bustle to someone else. In the mountains and villages and countryside you can forget you are on an island, even though Es Castell is but a short drive from some of the island's most beautiful beaches. Should you wish to venture a little further, the colourful city of Palma is a mere 40 minutes by car.

Restaurant:

Fresh local Mediterranean dishes are served on the roof-top terrace every evening. A great deal of the produce comes from the hotel's own land and the weekly visit to S'Olivar fish market always yields something special.

Cancellations:

Cancellations must be received in writing (fax or e-mail) by the hotel at least 14 days before the scheduled arrival day. Cancellations between 14 and 7 days notice will be charged 25% of the stay.
Cancellations between 7 and 4 days before the start of the booking will be charged 50% of the stay.
Cancellations with less than 4 days notice will be charged 100% of the stay, to a maximum of 4 days.
