A small intimate hotel on Ibiza

The house at Ca n'Escandell is an original 200 year-old Ibizan farmhouse, typical of the simple "Ibicenca" arquitecture. It lies in an open valley, surrounded by fruit trees and native plants, and with the rocky hills of Es Amunts as a backdrop.

The finca extends to 7 hectares in total, with woodland and organic cultivation. The garden is planted in a natural style with fragrant plants like lavender and rosemary. There is a swimming pool, of course, and a barbecue area set amongst pine trees.

While outside the house is pure hispano-arabic in style, inside the simple lines have been brought right up to date with modern minimalist furnishings balanced against exposed stone walls and other original features. The result is just beautiful, exemplified by the novel fireplace in the apartment that is set into a window. Several of the guestrooms are in the main house and the remainder in renovated farm buildings scattered around the grounds. There is also the self-catering apartment sleeping four at the top of the house. Although every room is quite distinct in character, they all have a terrace, air-conditioning, telephone, television, minibar, etc. The apartment also has a sitting room with the above-mentioned fireplace, a kitchen and a jacuzzi. Several rooms are accessible to the disabled.

This is a delightful location up in the northern corner of Ibiza, offering beautiful countryside of red-brown fields and stone walls and a stunning coastline of rocky inlets, sandy beaches and an azure sea. Within 10 km of Ca n'Escandell there are 18 beaches, six of them completely untouched. Around the hotel, there is fertile farmland with olives, almonds and junipers, that is home to genets and martens, goldfinchs, owls and falcons. The owners of the hotel will provide mountain bikes to help you explore the country around about, and can arrange all sorts of boat trips and other activities to let you explore the coast.

Restaurant:

Although the hotel doesn't have its own restaurant, meals are available to guests by prior arrangement. The hotel has an arrangement with several restaurants so that guests can benefit from a very wide choice of menu, and even have their chosen meal brought to Ca n'Escandell for them.

Sant Miguel de Balansat. Wander round the village and see the majestic fortified church that dominates the area.

Ibiza town.
If you have a car, drive down around the south-west coastline too. Nothing is very far away on Ibiza.

What We Say:

Do you want beaches or do you want countryside? What a decision! You can explore the fields, woods and hills around Can Escandell on foot or by bike, or on horseback. Or potter down to one of the lovely coves to chill out on the beach, go swimming, snorkelling, fishing, or sailing. First though, you have to tear yourself away from the hotel.
